The look on peoples faces, excited and blown away. The smiles, the cheers, and all the encouragement we got on stage makes me feel proud.
It is 2015. I am on the stage. I can see my family cheering me on so I feel like a super star . I was on the stage with all my friends and boys from school. We were performing kapa haka. Kapa haka is where you sing maori songs and the boys do the haka. The next thing I know we had already started the performance.
To see people really enjoying our performance made me really proud. To see my family cheering me on and to see my school having a good time really made me enjoy the performance. Having to lead each song was the best thing I ever got to do. My family was really proud of me for leading the songs and not getting stage fright.
When I was on the stage I could see all the shops and stands that were set up for us. The kids having fun on the bounce castle and crowds of people pushing each other just like they were in a rugby game. There were games at the festival as well.
When I was singing I could taste the wind blowing through my mouth. I also had butterflies flying around my stomach making me nervous. So I got a little bit hungry after the performance I walked around found and a shop that selled kebabs I got one and it was delicious I loved it.
When I was on my little walk around I could smell food getting fried. But the food I could smell the most was the Mcdonalds that was across the road. I could hear kids crying for what they want. I could see people buying things.
At the end of our kapa haka performance I heard a boy named Brendan shout a maori chant that meant we were finished. That was the end of our performance at the newtown festival in wellington.
It was late. I could hear people closing up and I could no longer hear kids crying for what they what. I could no longer hear the sound of people shouting and singing to the music. So I thought I might be the only one here apart from the cleaners that were cleaning things up. So I want home to tell my mum all about it
